Navu sets a browser cookie to maintain conversation continuity across sessions. To stay compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations, you need to register this cookie in your CookieYes consent manager. Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open Cookie Manager in CookieYes
Log in to your CookieYes dashboard at app.cookieyes.com. In the top navigation, click Cookie Manager. Make sure you have the correct domain selected in the domain dropdown.
In the Cookie List view, click + Add Cookie in the top right.
Step 2: Fill in the cookie details
Complete the “Add Cookie” form with the following values:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Cookie ID (required) | navu-embed-browser-id |
| Domain (required) | Your website’s domain, e.g. .yourdomain.com |
| Duration (required) | 1 year |
| Script URL pattern | Leave blank |
| Description (required) | This cookie tracks an ID associated with a user, correlating it to their chat conversation with Navu AI. |
⚠️ Important: Set the domain to your own site’s domain, not a Navu infrastructure domain. The cookie is stored on your visitor’s browser under your domain.
Step 3: Assign the cookie to the Functional category
When CookieYes asks for a category, select Functional. The navu-embed-browser-id cookie enables a third-party feature (AI chat) but is not strictly required for your site to operate — this makes it Functional, not Necessary.
ℹ️ Categorising this cookie correctly ensures that visitors who opt out of functional cookies will not have their Navu chat session tracked — keeping your consent banner legally accurate.
Click Save draft to save without publishing yet.
Step 4: Publish your changes
Click the Publish changes button in the top right of the Cookie List view. This updates the live consent banner on your website immediately.
✅ After publishing, your consent banner will correctly disclose the Navu AI chat cookie to your visitors, satisfying GDPR, CCPA, and ePrivacy requirements.
